Short Tutorial/FAQ – What's the Close Friends Option on Instagram?
Question: I see that Instagram recently rolled out an option to share feed posts with Close Friends only. How does it work?
Answer: Close Friends on Instagram is a great way to communicate with a smaller, specific group of followers instead of posting to your entire list. There's a direct prompt within the creation flow that enables you to activate the Close Friends setting on a post-by-post basis.
To add or remove people from your Close Friends list on Instagram:
- Tap the person icon or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap the stack of three lines in the top right, then tap Close Friends.
- Tap the circle next to the people you want to add to your Close Friends list. You can also tap Search to search for a friend.
- To remove someone on your list, tap the checkmark in a blue circle next to their name.
- Tap Done at the bottom to save your changes.
When someone is added to your Close Friend list, they'll see a star in a green circle when viewing your notes, reels, or stories that lets them know they're part of your list. They may also see a green ring around your profile photo.
